Yearlstone, Devon’s oldest vineyard, is run by Roger and Juliet White. Its vines run down the steep slopes of the Exe Valley, and benefit from a gentle, climate and lashings of light. Their Vintage Bruts have won several awards and even got a thumbs-up from the French: “Crisp and lively, fresh and fruity, not lacking in personality. Here is a beautiful English identity.” La revue du vin de France
Brother and sister-in-law team Annie and Jonny met over a family dinner. Long after everyone had given up on them and gone to bed, they sat up talking about their shared passion: A damn good bowl of granola. Since then Spoon Cereal has done the rounds of London markets, a stint as a pop-up at Old Street Station, and even took on the Dragon’s Den - successfully! Their founding principle remains unwavering: Giving everyone a good reason to jump out of bed in the morning.
No electricity, no fridge and an abundant harvest of vegetables… This is how Joanna Morgan found herself one gloomy afternoon, in a candlelit kitchen, pouring over her grandmother’s cooking books learning how to make preserves. And learn she did! This ‘alchemist of preservers’ has taken the foodie world by storm, winning three gold awards for her marmalades. “Preserve making is a time-honoured tradition of capturing time and catching seasons.”
